Focuses In The Coming Year

Hello 🌿 I’m Katie, owner & videographer at Vibe Visuals. As an alternate to explaining who I am, I thought I’d tell you a few of the projects I have been focusing on over the past year.

1.) The Art Of Storytelling

have you ever felt like someone just didn’t understand you because they lacked the context of your stories? Those little intricacies that only you would know. Decisions you made that were misconstrued by others because they didn’t know your intention. Many times we think of storytelling as a theatrical and embellished rendition of the truth, but it doesn’t have to be. Lenses will always exist, and storytelling is the art of putting on someone else’s glasses.

2.) Fake It Until You Make It

True confidence comes in waves & I’m convinced that if you’re not feeling imposter syndrome every now and again, you’re doing it wrong. Mainly, recognizing that we are whole and deserving without ever having to produce, work, change, or be anything to anyone. Confidence isn’t some trait you end up possessing after years of education or some version of popularity- confidence is the unfettered knowing that you are and always were whole. From the day you arrived on this human planet.

3.) Slowing the F Down

Thinking I already lived a very moderately paced, intentional life was laughable after having my daughter last December. Your soul quickly gives way to these deep knowings - what you can hold space for and what you can’t, how to prioritize what really matters and what doesn’t (when you used to believe to the core that it did), how to honor and revel in this wild fucking ride the universe has mysteriously and so beautifully given us, and recognizing that even the present moment hardly exists, so make it count.

I am so excited for the next decade. Humans are doing cool things and society is coming to awareness. 4 Lies About Your Wedding Day

1 "THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF YOUR LIFE"

With no intention to downplay or cast off the significance of this day, putting this kind of weight on your wedding day is simply untrue and an unnecessary cause of anxiety/pressure. Your wedding day is AN important day in your life - one where you dedicate time to reflect on who you've become as a couple and where you'd like to grow. The reality is that your life will allot you so many more days that shine just as brightly as your wedding day, so don't make one day so heavy - be present and experience the day knowing you will have more days just like it, surrounded in love and wonder.

2 “YOUR CEREMONY MUST HAVE XYZ”

PLEASE, please, please do not succumb to this rhetoric. This is probably one of the most anticipated and memorable days of your life, so make sure you include rituals that are so YOU your guests aren’t remotely surprised. Don’t feel pressured to conform to normal- What’s normal anyways?

3 "SOMETHING IS BOUND TO GO WRONG"

Okay, this isn't a lie. This is the truth, however, it is the truth of EVERY situation. We get attached to ideas in our head about how events SHOULD look and how they SHOULD play out. Avoid feeling anxious when something doesn't stick to the script, by letting go of the script. I leave you with this quote from The Buddha, "You only lose what you cling to."

4 "YOU DON'T NEED A PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER"

You've got a strict budget that needs to divide itself between various vendors, leaving you in charge of prioritizing what will end up being most valuable after the day is over. You might chalk it up to "everyone will be taking videos/pictures on their phones," however, you'll likely end up with grainy, blurry content that is biased based on who's taking them, and you'll never get those dreamy shots that capture the depth of the way you really felt about your fiancé on your wedding day. Videography/photography is the most common answer to "What do you wish you’d spent more money on?".

Let me tell you a little about Vibe Visuals.

My name's Katie. I am the owner & sole videographer. The only simple way to express my “why” is that I love love. Before you scroll past, please, let me elaborate. It took many years of internal reworking to recognize how much I didn’t know about what real love looked like and how it functioned. I now understand and deeply value these few things.

Truth - hearing someone’s truth is fucking beautiful. The raw realities that we can’t imagine until someone spills their heart song are melodies worth hearing. Love - I had to, okay. Love fills the dark spaces and allows us to simply BE, without expectation. Love smoothes edges and invites you to be friends. Love is the falling of breath and weight out of your precious lungs. Love is peaceful words laid down upon fiery depths. And you have all of this and more, right there within you.

I serve Midwest couples who share authentic passion and have a sweet story to tell. There is nothing that gets me invested in a story more than raw emotion and love without condition. All of the noble aspects that come with a true story - beautiful, or stricken with obstacle - I love too. Vibe Visuals is focused on capturing your moments in a personalized, intentional film. As your love has so beautifully and wonderingly grown, so will the impact that these memories have.
